Education

Islam is a complete religion and a comprehensive way of life as well. Education played an important part of the lives of our Muslim predecessors and should play an equally important part in the lives of us; their successors.  Knowledge increases the level of belief and improves the practice of worshipping. Allah SWT says: "...Say: Are those who know equal to those who do not know?" Only they will remember [who are] people of understanding" (Quran, C39, V9). And says: "So know, [O Muhammad], that there is no deity except Allah and ask forgiveness for your sin and for the believing men and believing women..." (Quran C47, V19). Knowledge confer distinction upon those who practice religion with knowledge and grant them privilege upon those who do not do so. Allah SWT says:  "...Allah will raise those who have believed among you and those who were given knowledge, by degrees. And Allah is Acquainted with what you do" (Quran, C58, V11). The Prophet Salla Allahu Alayhi Wassallam (SAAW) emphasised the importance of knowledge in the affairs of the Muslims as in the authentic hadith reported by both Imams Al-Bukhari and Muslim on the authority of Abdullah Bin Amr (RA) that he said: "I heard Allah's Messenger (SAAW) saying: Allah does not remove knowledge ( or science) from the people as such but He causes death to the scientists (or scholars) and thus removes knowledge (or science) with them. And when no scholar remains the people take on ignorant heads, then these will be asked and they will decree without science (or knowledge) and therefore, they go astray and lead people astray" (agreed upon, Al-Bukhari No: 100 and Muslim No: 2673).

This is why we, in Masjid-us-Sunnah of Leicester, pay a huge attention to educating our Muslim fellows both of their religion and of their life too. As Islam has three main aspects which complement each other, namely; the belief, the worship and the attitude or morals we emphasise the education on all these aspects and beyond.

Initially we would like to present to you three courses: Interpretation of Quran (Tafseer) as a series of power point presentations (In Arabic at the moment), a successive series of 'Lesson from Hadith' and a series of "Fridays' speeches" as  given at our Mosque. There are assorted articles and presentations under 'Frequently asked questions' too. InsahAllah, we shall present more courses and more ideas with your help and your valuable suggestions.
